Chorus & Clouds Celebrates 10 YEARS in Mt. Pleasant! MARCH 1ST 10:30AM-12:30PM | 197 E. 17th at Chorus & Clouds!
When I first imagined running music classes across the city, I wanted to do something different — not for business reasons, but from the heart. As a childcare provider and nanny I’d been to many classes and heard about what felt missing: warmth, connection, and real music that felt like home. I took a leap — leaving my role at UBC Childcare and signing a lease in Mt. Pleasant — with my husband the first to believe in this folk-driven vision for families.
What began as a small endeavour quickly became a community: within six months hundreds of you were coming through our doors weekly. From day one I wanted Chorus & Clouds to be more than "music class". I opened my studio — and my heart — so families could feel at ease, be themselves, and watch their children shine. Over the years your feedback, the dedication of past staff, and our collaborators taught me the same lesson again and again: people come because Chorus feels like home. On hard parenting days you could bring your child as they are, and leave a little lighter, reminded this too shall pass. We’re never alone on this journey when we listen and help one another.
You — your word of mouth, your presence, your trust — have shaped Chorus into what it is today. Despite challenges, our mission to hold space for new parents, caregivers, and families has never stopped. With open hearts and a team of loving teachers, Chorus has become, quietly and proudly, a leader in early childhood music here in the city. Parents tell us: “I felt like a better parent after class,” “My child is happier,” “I watched my child fall in love with music.”
Ten years feels enormous, especially as many small businesses close. I am deeply grateful for what we’ve built together. Many of you are now part of my extended family — I see you at parks, cafés, shows — and the smiles we share remind me of the light you gave to this studio. That light is what I celebrate.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
With love and kindness,
Jessie

It is about what we all take away. How we feel when we sing together, how a song can make a child smile or soothe them during tough times. The list of benefits acquired from singing and music making is extensive. We may not see it right away, but if we pay attention, we will soon discover how important a role music plays in a child's development. The connections fostered between peers in each class is amazing to see and we love watching our little friends come to life in each and every class. Come join the fun!

“Chorus and Clouds - our home away from home for over 3.5 years now. I count my blessings to have found Jess and her magical space all those years ago. Jess is an outstanding, passionate childhood educator. She creates both a magical and safe environment for children to experience and expand their wonder and awe through music, art, stories and exploration. Jess has the biggest heart, a beautiful voice and a genuine interest in each and every child’s curiosity which truly lets them shine!”
