By preschool age children are well-versed in using their imaginations and pretend play becomes more sophisticated. City planning and creation of small worlds becomes a consuming past time and we have all the materials to facilitate this type of creativity from loose parts collections to architectural sets.
Lengthening attention spans allows for more interest in games and puzzles and an increasing awareness of the world around us brings an interest in books with a wider scope.
As both fine motor skills and self-identity develop, children increasingly use art and music as a basis for self-expression.
